Dolores and Joan

A few days ago, Mona forwarded this amazing photo of Dolores Huerta (mother of the United Farm Workers Union) and Joan Baez backstage at the Operation Ceasefire concert last September in DC. Since she hasn’t posted it on her blog yet, I thought I’d put it up here. (This was from the Women’s Legislator’s Lobby site.

While I thought I knew quite a bit about the UFW, it wasn't until hearing Christina Ortega's song “Corrido de Dolores Huerta #39”, that I learned about Dolores. In reading more about her I found that she was at at one time a UC Regent. As a UC employee, this technically made her my “boss,” something I found extremely cool.
