"Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man’s war"

The local antiwar group that I work with (South Pasadena Neighbors for Peace and Justice) is having a counter-recruitment committee meeting this Saturday and this is a perfect example of why I'm attending.

18-Year-Old Marine From Pasadena Killed In Iraq

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. -- An 18-year-old Marine from Pasadena was killed when a roadside bomb exploded near the vehicle he was riding in while conducting combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq.

Lance Corporal Sergio Escobar died Oct. 8. Escober was assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division at Twentynine Palms. Escobar was born Dec 31, 1986, and lived in Pasadena, Calif., before joining the Marine Corps. He is survived by his wife, his mother, and his stepfather.
